BritComs

Ever since I can remeber I have always loved to watch British comedies. It was my aunt, whom used to live in England for a couple of years, that got me into this whole fasination. Every saturday night we would watch Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearences. I found their comedy to be really different from the North American comedies. They would make fun of any subject and not really care who they are offending. My favorite British comedy of all time has to be French and Saunders, I think these two ladies are the queens of comedy. French and Saunders was a sketch show that made fun of every subject, I would give an example but it wouldn't be funny, you just have to see. If you would like more info about Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders just check out www.hellomagazine.com. Another great British comedy is Mr. Bean, the whole show is basically about a single man that is unaware of the world around him, always getting in trouble and he never speaks. Now I think just shows how great this show is, the man never talks but he is still funny as hell!!
As for the newer shows I find them to be especially funny, for example Little Britian, 3 Non-Blondes, and The Office.

Jury Duty

So I have been totally meaning to write about this but I keep on forgetting. Well as soon as the New Year rang in I received notice to appear for jury duty. At first I was annoyed but then I thought, hey I will get time off at work so that was great. So when I arrived to the court house I was greeted by two individuals having an argument outside. Anyway I had to go into this huge room with all these people just waiting to hear what's going to happen next. Well eventually everyone had to go into this courtroom where the accused had to plea in front of us. So the Judge reads the charge of "accused of second degree murder", WHAT!! The whole court room of potential jurors gasped. The judges right hand person (I forget the name of her position) had to read out random names that were drawn from a drum. So after the reading of 60 names my name was not chosen. I thought man now I have to go back to work :-(
The judge informed us that we may be called to come back if they do not make a decision.
Well they did eventually call me back and basically I was chosen to be on the jury. I had to go into the witness box where the defense lawyer asked me about my occupation and if I was biased because the accused is black and the victim is white. Then the people who were already on the jury, the crown and the defense had to decided if they wanted me to be on the jury based on my answers and they all said yes, my heart just dropped. I mean I am on a jury that has to decide if this man should be sent to jail for life. Well after the jury was selected we all sat in the room just shocked and in disbelief.
So the trial lasted only 3 days because the accused plead guilty to 2nd degree murder. Out of this whole experience I realized that there is a whole other "world" out there that I had no idea existed.

Money... I need Money!!

Well today I recieved my visa from the British High Commission. So I thought I would celebrate and buy some supplies, like contact solution and toliet paper :-) There is so many things that I have to do and time is going by so quickly. I have to cancel my cell phone plan which will set me back $200 ( and I think that is absolutly crazy!). I also have to stock up on medicine, because of my asthma I have to buy inhalers for $100 each and a Epi Pin for $80. Wow I think I have to start budgeting again.

London Here I come!!!!

Well it is finally official, I will be moving to England on May1, 2006 and I can wait!! I have been waiting for my UK visa to get approved and it took a bit longer than expected but today I received an email saying that I should receive my Visa package in 3days. So now I can finally go shopping, my thing was that I would not shop any more for my trip until I received word that my visa is approved, because if I wasn't then I would end up with way too many toothpaste. So yeah this totally made my day!!

This is so true!!

My Horoscope
Gemini
May 22 - June 22
You think this world is in a mess? You don't know the half of it. That, though, is probably a blessing. If we really understood what a terrible state everything was in, we would soon start to feel very dispirited. A merciful side effect of all the confusion and chaos is that it creates a communication problem. Nobody is in a position to properly explain the full extent of what's wrong to anyone else. Ignorance may or may not be bliss, but it can be reassuring at times. Be glad, today, of what you don't know. There's priceless advice and brilliant news in your new in-depth forecast.

A Man Once Told Me...

The other day a man came into my office and I was filling out his form, he stopped me and said "You have wonderful handwriting, and you can tell a lot about a person by the way they write." He intrigued me so I asked, "What does my handwriting say about me?" He replied, "Well I can tell that you have big thoughts, very cheerful and you like to avoid confrontation, you don't like to fight." Well I was just shocked this man nailed me to the "t", maybe he was a little off with the cheerful part but he was right about everything else. I just couldn't believe that someone can tell the type of person you are through your handwriting. It just makes you think... What gift do I have?

Why?

Why do people feel the need to ask the craziest questions? I deal with the public a lot and man half of the individuals that come into my office are just, ummm, I will try to be polite and say they are just out of it. I am not sure if it is due to lack of education or what. Maybe I am just getting really frustrated with this job and my tolerance is just too low. For example in my job I take pictures of people and they always feel the need to ask me how do they look. Ok seriously would I really say to them that they look ugly as hell and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. So I am forced to lie and say oh no your picture is great!!!! Oh and here is another one, when people come into the office to change their name due to marriage they always seem to ask, "Do I sign my old name on the application or my new name?" Ummmm... Can May come any faster?
