Destination~2 Salzburg, Austria
Hey well last Thursday RC and myself headed for the lovely city Salzburg in Austria. Untill that point I have been working none stop with my full time job and NBC so it was a well deserved break. Anyway I will write more about that later. So we arrived Thursday night to the Salzburg airport and I must admit i was a bit nervous when we landed because we were actually going to take public transport to our hotel. I am usually used to just getting one of those airport buses/taxis to take me especially when i am in a new place. Thank God the journey was not too complicated, we basically took one bus and thanks to RC's organization we had detailed maps telling us were to go. So about 20 minutes later we were able to find the hotel and as soon as we got in we just relaxed. Then the hunger toke in so our first meal in Salzburg was McDonalds!!!! interesting eh...

Friday ~ We got up in time for our free breakfast and then we immediately headed out for some sightseeing. The first place we went to was Schloss, it a mansion with a very nice park in the back. Her are some photos

Then we saw Mozart's Residence and the name is pretty much self explanatory. Mozart lived in the building from 1773-1780. This place had various exhibits relating to the life of the Mozart Family and the history of the building.

We also went to this cool fingerfood resturant called Carpe Diem. I ordered roast beef and mashed potatoes and RC had chicken wings and this is what it looked like!!!! Not exactly what I was expecting and the taste was ummmm quite interesting.

Saturday ~ Another day fulled of seeing new sights. We decided to make our first stop the Hohensalzburg Fortress-Cable Railway. Hohensalzburg Fortress, built in 1077 by Archbishop Gebhard, considerably enlarged by Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach (1495-1519), largest, fully-preserved fortress in central Europe. The medieval princes' apartments and the Fortress Museum are of particular interest. Since 1892 the fortress can easily be reached by funicular railway departing from the Festungsgasse. I found it to be so cool being in an actual fortress, we saw different rooms, for example their torture room but what was funny is that no one was actually tortured there but we saw the equipment that they would use if they actually tortured someone.

Anyway after exploring the Fortress we went to this nice cafe called Cafe Imbisse and had hotdogs and chips. After filling our bellies we did some more sightseeing. We went to places like Mozart's Birth Home and saw a statue of Mozart.

Finally we headed back to the hotel to relax cause we had to wake up early to catch the flight home :-(

Overall I loved the city and can't wait for my next journey to.... MILAN!!!!
