Well Finally!!

Ok well after my receptionist temp assignment, my agency asked me if I wanted to do some conference work and it would be more hands on and a lot more interesting then the receptionist position. Well I thought great! I wouldn't mind doing some conferencing like setting up the room etc. Little did I know I was completely wrong. When I got to the conference building they showed me around then they took me to the kitchen and told me that this is where I will spend most of my time and basically my main duties were to set up the tea, coffee, lunches and snacks in the rooms and when they were done to clean up. Man I felt like a maid, I was really upset that the agency made this job seem more glamorous then it really was. So I said to myself I can't do this for a whole 2 weeks, I would die!!! I tired to see if things would get better during the day but they didn't. The girl that was supposed to be training me just ended up leaving me and never returned, so I was like what the... Then there was this nice guy that helped me and he told me if you don't like this then get out NOW!!! He obviously hated his job and actually he told me that he hated the job. Thank God another agency had called me the day before to come in a register with them and they would try and get me a permanent customer service job. After this experience I thought I had nothing to lose, so I contacted them and made an appointment to registrar with them then I called my other agency and told them that I could not continue with this assignment and I would be going to Paris for a week so I won't be a round for a while. I know I shouldn't have lied but I just had no idea what else to tell them and I wanted to see what this other agency could do for me.
Anyway to make a long story short, I went to a couple of interviews and yesterday I was offered a permanent job with this call center. My role is to be a call center operator and basically if like a police department arrest some dude and he only speaks Polish then they would call me and ask me to get a Polish translator for them. So I think this job will be a lot better then cleaning up after someone. Any hey this is all temporary right!!!

It seems like it was just yesturday that I started a new school and saw this interesting guy sitting at the computers in the classroom listening to his music, wearing his green jacket that I never liked, why I don't know. I actually remember saying to myself, well I don't think I will be friends with this guy. Little did I know, God had something else planned. I came out of that course getting to know the two greatest people, RC and Joe. Joe was a really wicked guy, its one of those things when you got to know the person it is totally different from what you orginally thought. I am totally going to miss going to the pubs, having Joe constantly making me laugh, making me feel embarassed to blow my nose and even eat. Today would have been his 30th birthday and I just hope he is having a smashing party up there!
Anyway Happy Birthday Joe,
Your Black Prophetist.

Happy B-Day to Me!

So as many of you may or may not know yesterday was my 27th birthday. I have to say the day turned out really well. Myself and RC decided to go to the Science museum, we are not really into science but it was something to do and a new place to see. Well similar to the British museum it did drain my energy but not as quickly. The museum was free and smaller then expected, but of course in order to take part in the exhibitions we had to pay, so we passed on that and just walked around the museum. After we went to a small cafe for a latte and just chilled. Then we decided to go to Harrods because it was just one stop over on the Piccadilly Line. Man was I in my zone there, it was gorgeous! All name brands from Fendi to Tiffany's, its like all that energy that was lost at the Science museum came rushing back. I decided to get a little birthday present for myself and I bought a Versace handbag for 3,ooo pounds... JUST JOKING the only thing I could afford was a 100g piece of rum and raisin fudge for 2 pounds!

After our adventure at Harrods, we came home relaxed and then there was a knock at our door. It was our neighbor from upstairs, they were having a bbq and wanted us to come. Well being the anti-social individuals that we are RC and I had a hard time deciding if we wanted to go and if we were going how were we going to leave, because we had planned to go to the pub for a drink and that was really important :-) Anyway after what felt like an hour deciding what we wanted to do, we just decided to go outside where they were and just see what would happen. Well of course the neighbor's and their guest were all extremely nice and very inviting. So we stayed there for couple of hours, talking, eating and drinking and they everyone was heading back upstairs and that's when RC and myself would be a perfect chance for us to make our exit. So we just told one of the girls boyfriend that we were heading to the pub and they were invited to join us if they wanted. But of course they never did and that was ok. Now I have to mention that at the pub they decided to have a dj play and his name was DJ Fink Funk and that just says it all! He played the same Killers song at least 3x and the saddest thing was that he actually thought he was "wicked." But hey it was great entertainment, meaning watching him make a fool of himself.

In English Please

Well as you all know I was working temporary as a receptionist for a couple of days. In this position I had to greet everyone that came into the office and for the visitors I had to make sure they signed in and called the person whom they were going to see to tell them that they are here, you know basic reception stuff. Anyway after the first day I realized I can't understand anyone. People would come up to me and tell me their name and who they were here to see I would not be able to understand them. I felt so stupid saying "pardon me" and when I call the person and I would still get their names wrong it was kind of embarrassing. I find the British tend to mumble their words and their accent just makes the word sound messed up!! Its like we are speaking the same language but twisted!! Oh yeah I have to tell this story, this is what happened on my second day here in London. Well me and RC went to Burger King and they asked what I wanted to drink with my meal and I said Root Beer, and the guy said "what?" and I repeated myself thinking he just never heard me and then he goes, "beer, we have no beer here!" Then I said ok, can I have a Coke please. I mean I wasn't asking for flipping beer at a fast food joint, come on! But yeah it was funny, not sure if it ties in with me not understanding them but I guess it shows that it is visa versa.

My first London Job

Friday I started my first London job and it went pretty well. On Thursday I registered with an agency and as soon as I left the building they called me with a job as a receptionist at a business and they wanted me to start immediately the next day. So Friday I woke up early and headed to Charing Cross and the office was 2 mins way from the tube and 1 min from Trafalgar Square and that was really nice. As soon as I walked into the building this lady, sorry I forget her name, I am really bad with names. Anyway as soon as I walked in she gave me a crash course in what I had to do and then just left me, now this is my first receptionist job so I had no idea what I was doing but it was easy so I was able to catch on quickly. There were moments were absolutely no one would come in so I would just have to sit there looking at the wall and that was the only boring part, also later on in the day the girl in charge of me came down and asked me if I could come in on Monday and Tuesday, inside I was like NOOOOO but I told her of course. When you really look at it I should be really grateful that I have a job and they actually want me to come back and hey its only temporary!!!!

Jobs

Now the job search begins. Well I have been applying for jobs "hardcore" for the past week or so and today I was actually able to register with one company. The agency's name is PFJ and they specialize in media recruitment. So they said I would be more suitable to do media sales jobs and that's ok with me. Honestly I am not looking for anything in particular as long as I have something that pays the bills, but I will not work for a food joint, like serving food and stuff. Man that's were I draw the line... Anyway now its just the waiting game and of course I am still going to be applying for jobs and will not solely rely on this agency cause lets say they can't get me something till next month, gosh!!

My Day @ the British Museum

Well today was very eventful, I went to see a little more of Britain and I actually went to the British Museum. The British Museum is the country's largest and most popular museum. At first I was all for going and excited to see what artifacts were on display and learn some history. Now for some reason after going through the first room I was physically drained. The Egyptian exhibit was quite interesting but I slowly began to lose my energy, kind of like what the sun does to Red Cat. So myself and RC decided to take a break and go outside for awhile. Then we headed back in, RC suggested that we go see the money exhibit before we leave. Man I think that was the most boring part of my whole day I mean looking at old money is not too exciting. RC saw the boredom on my face and said, "I thought you love money?" I explained to her that yes money is great but when I am spending it and not just looking at it!
After the museum we went to Piccadilly Circus, which is the more posh shopping district. I couldn't afford to buy anything so basically we just window shopped. But then we found a Marks & Spencer and I was able to buy a lamp for my room and that made me feel better.

Sorry...

Hello everyone sorry for the delay in putting up new posts on my blog. I have heard it was kind of lame, but we just moved into our new flat on Monday and things have been kind of hectic. We also just got the internet connection so now I can write!!!!!
Anyway, so far London is really nice. The people that we have had to deal with were extremely kind and the weather, man so who says that there is no sun in London!!! I would say the only thing that has bugged me is the trash situation, there are no trash cans! Red Cat says its because of the bombings that's why they got rid of them. I think they should at least think of some other options, I mean yesterday it took me for ever to find a place to put my empty Starbucks cup and I just feel guilty leaving it on the corner. And when I do find a trash can it is full to the max and you are forced to leave it on the street. Other than that issue, I am having a great time and I just can't wait to see what each day brings.

Finally

Ok so I am finally here and thank God. I have been meaning to write but just have been lazy and now I finally have time, also Red Cat has bothered me about it everyday. Myself and Red Cat arrived on Monday, May 1 and so far things have been great! I was able to get a new phone and I loves it!!! yesterday we checked out some flats and they looked ok, I just wish I can meet that footballer fast so I can get the mansion that I deserve and I will let Red Cat stay in my guest house for a small fee, heheheeee. Today has just been a chill day we have walked so much that I think I just need a day to just relax and watch some telly. Anyway now I will try and keep all my blog readers updated as much as I can. Lata for now...
