American I am NOT!!!

Well I am here enjoying London and meeting new people but there is only one problem that kind of bothers me. Everyone seems to think I am American, when I meet someone the first thing they always say is "So which part of America are you from?" or "Oh, your American!" This fustrates me because I personally don't think I sound American and my question is why would they assume that I am American??? The funniest thing is when I tell them no I am from Canada they apologize almost as if they had insulted me. At one point I was thinking maybe I should just say "yeah I am from the Bronx" and Red Cat says I should also say my name is Jenny but I just think that is a little corney! Anyway let me give a recent example, on Friday I went to get my National Insurance Number and while I was about to take a seat I saw RedCat talking with some guy, so I said my hellos and the first thing he said to me was, "Oh your from America", I was like no man I am Canadian and then he states "Well you have that hard American accent". Ok at this point I didn't know if I should just slap him right there or just laugh it off and since I was in a Government office I just laughed and said no. Maybe when I speak to someone I will just say "Hi eh!" or maybe they will think I am an American trying to be Canadian. I just don't know.

Weekend Update

So here is an update as to what I have been up to so far. On Thursday I went to watch the Trinidad and England game at a pub called Digress and that was fun other than the fact that Trinidad ended up losing that game but its ok we still have hope and if you read the comment by Supa on RedCat's June 11th post, he clearly explains how Trinidad still has a chance!!! Anyway, after the game we still celebrated and that was quite interesting...
Friday, myself and RC just chilled from a hard day at work.
On Saturday we did some site seeing with Supa and his peeps. We were able to see the Buckingham Palace, London Bridge and Big Ben. Although, Supa's cousin said that there is another Big Ben but I am still trying to figure out where that is, ummm... And to your left there is an outside shot of Buckingham. Anyway after a lot of walking we needed to fuel our energy, so we went to a pub call The Red Lion and had a bite to eat and continued with our touring. Once it was decided that we had enough, we headed to Piccadilly Circus and slowly made our way to Leicester Square, which is really just about 10mins from each other. In Leicester Square we went to some bar, sorry I forget the name, where people just go to hang out before they go out! I still don't understand why some places have to close so early here because at 11pm they turned on all the lights obviously telling everyone to get out. So after we were finished our drinks we headed to TGIF to relax and socialize some more but they eventually closed soon after, so we decided to go to the Casino for a while and then some well need Chinese food.
Now its Sunday and I am totally relaxing and enjoying a nice sunny London day!

World Cup Fever!

Well I really meant to post this yesterday but I was just too exhausted. But anyway as we all know its that time of year where all football fans stay glued to the tube rooting for their teams to win. For me the World Cup officially began on Saturday. I must admit I have never really watched football before but half of my culture was playing, that's right TRINIDAD&TOBAGO aka Soca Warriors. So Red Cat and myself decided to go support our country by going to a Busspepper party at The Warwick, which is a pub located near Piccadilly Circus, and man we had fun. There are two levels in the pub and we had the whole bottom level where there was a sea of people in red, black and white. For those of you who don't know the Warriors were playing against Sweden and the Warriors did a great job ending the game in a 0-0 draw. I really think I can actually get into this game and just looking forward to this Thursday where Trinidad will play England. Now that should be an interesting game, I was thinking of wearing my red top with my red, white and black beads but if Trinidad were to win that game then I really don't think it would be safe walking down the streets, so I shall just be undercover!!! Oh yeah after the game ended early on Saturday Red Cat and myself decided to walk around Piccadilly Circus and find something to eat. Every corner there is a pub or a restaurant and because of the wonderful weather they were all packed so we eventually found this diner where they served your basic hamburger and fries and that hit the spot! After we just walked around and found ourselves at Leicester Square, and this is the place where they have all the big Hollywood movie premieres so it was very nice. I totally think if we had no plans then we will totally be going there just to hang out and relax. Well my next post will probably be on Friday, GO

My "Brilliant" Weekend

Hey, so this weekend was pretty fun. Friday I met up with my friend from Paris, she is originally from Toronto but she moved to Paris a couple of months ago to do a pretty interesting internship. So we had BK and caught up with each others drama. Then I went to Oxford Circus to do some shopping. On Saturday Myself and RC went to Oxford to a smashing party and we had a lot of fun especially RC. We returned Sunday night, I totally think the next time we go we will spend more time because Oxford is a very nice place to explore and they take really good care of their lawns and gardens :-) Also Monday was my official first day of work and it went well. The working environment is very relaxed and chill. We can use the internet, take breaks when we want etc. so that's pretty cool. So right now I am just doing training which can be quite boring but hey at least I am getting paid!! Anyway this weekend is the beginning of the World Cup so I am sure myself and RC will have many stories to tell you guys.
