Destination #1~Spain Cont...

Well I am back now from a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable vacation, I can obviously go on and on. But seriously Mallorca was really nice. Getting to the airport was a journey in itself. Basically we had to leave the night before just in order to catch the tube and train in time. Then we had to wait a couple of hours in the airport but suprisingly the time went by really fast, THANK GOD!! The bus that toke us to the hotel had to drop off a couple of people at other hotels first and the way their hotels looked I was totally expecting the worse for us. But when we reached it was clarely right beside the beach beacause all we could see is this endless ocean behind the hotel. Well we had to wait to check in but that didn't matter because we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun and have a few drinks. Oh yeah I should also add that this hotel was all-inclusive so that was an extra bonus!!! So yes I did drink some wine and the Sangria's were great too!!! Anyway when we finally got our room we immediately changed and we went straight to the beach. The beach was ok but the tides were way to rough to enjoy and you had to pay to use the lounge chairs, so we just chilled out on the sand and began our tanning, cause you all know I do need a tan :-P And thats how the next couple of days would consist of, we would get up, eat breakfast then go back to the room, change and head stright outside. I was really suprised with the weather. Before we went down the reports were saying that it would be really windy with rain and thunder storms. But only in the morning would it be a little cloudy and once it reached mid-day the sun would come out and stay out for a good while, man was it hot! The only thing that I really would say that was negative was that this resort tended to cater to couples and families, therefore there were hardly any young people which was kind of a downer. Also the food was not as good as I expected. I wasn't expecting it to be great but you know I thought they would have a couple of Spainish dishes but they didn't so that was also a disappointment. Other than that I had a great time! Can't wait for the next trip...

Destination #1~Spain

Hey guys, well tomorrow I will be heading out on my first trip since I have been to the UK. RC and myself will be going to the lovely Palma de Mallorca, Spain!! I am so excited I can't wait to go, we will be going for 3 days, short and sweet! We figure this trip will just be a quick break and helpfully in the future we will return to explore more of Spain's culture. I think it great that we have finally been able to start our travels finally. So I will be sure to write upon my return and post some pics.

Its funny I always tell RC that during the week we work just like almost every British citizen and on the weekend we become tourist. So this weekend we decided to go to the Tate Modern to view various pieces of art. Unlike my museum experience, I really enjoyed this little adventure. The Tate is quite far from where we live so when we got off the tube I had to wonder if we were in the right place cause all I saw was industrial buildings. Then RC told me that the Tate was in an old industrial building because they decided to move their international modern art that dated from 1500 to the present, from the Tate Britain gallery. Ok well she didn't say the dates but I thought I should just add that in :-)
Anyway, it was kind of confusing to actually get to the galleries but once we found it, I would have to say both of us were just captivated. We went to several rooms, the free ones of course, but it soon became apparent that to really enjoy each exhibition, we would have to make another trip back to the gallery. Here are two pieces that I really found interesting:

The Uncertainty of the Poet by Giorgio de Chirico

Carnival Weekend

Last week was Bank Holiday and Carnival weekend. So the activities began on Sunday after my sister arrived from her tour, that night we went to a bar/club named the Wax Bar in Oxford Circus. This fete was put on by a Trini promotion company named Busspepper, I am not sure if I have mentioned them before but these people held all the Trini World Cup parties. Anyway, we arrived there kind of early thinking we could get in cheaper but that didn't work. After awhile the party started to pick up and we all had a great time!!! The next day we went to the Carnival parade and that was another interesting ordeal. The tubes were jammed packed as were the streets, but when you think of it that is how Carnival is supposed to be. For some reason I find Caribana to be more ummm organized. The only good part I would say was that on the streets of Nottinghill they would have different tents with dj's spinning all sorts of music not just your soca or reggae, that part was really fun.
