One of the Greatest Women

My Grandma would always have that special touch that just made you feel better about everything. When I was sick she would know that the only thing that would make me feel better is her rubbing my back and at that moment everything would seem to be ok. She was able to help raise 8 grandchildren and I strongly believe she is the reason why our family is so close nit. She was also a very religious woman, if I was not up to going to church she would just have to give me this look that made me feel so guilty that I would have to change my mind. I remember her always telling me that if I ever needed anything in life, ie. being successful in a job interview, she would say "Just always talk to God, like how me and you are talking right now and He would surely bless you." That is one of the many key advices that will stay with me forever. I also remember her always asking me if I was going to watch tv with her or iron my clothes for work, but I know that really ment that she just wanted company and to talk my ears off by telling me her many stories of Jamaica and/or who at the time was stressing her out... My Grandma never like goodbyes, when I would leave for work and say "Goodbye Grandma," she would always tell me "Don't say goodbye, say see you later." So I guess this is not a goodbye but see you later Grandma...

Today I celebrate this wonderful woman's life and I know she will always be watching us from that great place up above...

Big Brother Update

Well forget what I said about hoping that Richard and Nikki make it to the final two cause this weekend the public voted for Nikki to leave the Big Brother house. This came to me as a shock because as I said previously Nikki was the one that added the drama and comedy to this show and now that she is gone I just don't know how interesting the show will be. At the beginning of last week, one of the new housemates Jayne kept on breaking the rules by discussing about the "outside world." Now this is known to everyone that once you enter the BB house you are not allowed to discuss what is happening outside and because she came into the house a little while after the show began, she can not discuss what she has seen already on the television. Well because of Miss Jayne's actions BB said that all the housemates have to be put up to eviction. At first I wasn't too worried because I knew that the public would want to vote off the boring house mates like Susie or Spiral. To my surprise on Friday it was announced that Nikki was the least popular to the public and she was evicted. I really don't think people realize what they have done voting off Nikki cause now the show will just be boring. Who's going to add the drama? Who is going to drive other housemates crazy? Who will now be obsessed with Pete?

BIG BROTHER UK... THE BEST!!!!

I have always heard of the British version of Big Brother and how its viewers took the show way more serious than the North American version, but I never knew that I would be trapped in this addiction. I have also made RC addicted to the show and she is the type of person that does not really like reality TV. But first let me explain what this show is about to those of you who don't know. Big Brother is a show were 12 strangers come together to live in one house, at the beginning of each week the housemates have to put up two people for eviction and ultimately the public decides which one of the two must leave the house. Oh yeah the person left in the end win a certain amount money and the 15 minutes of fame that comes with being on this show. It sounds very basic but its not, these people have very different personalities and that's where they clash, drama arises and people forget it is a game. This season seems to be full of gay guys and women with fake boobs and that what makes the show so great!!! The house right now includes Pete, Jayne, Spiral, Aisleyne, Nikki, Richard, Susie, Jennie, Mikey, Michael, Imogen. Out of those housemates that I have come to know my favorites so far are Nikki and Richard. These two make BB so interesting and very funny. Nikki is one of those girls who is so annoying that she makes the show fun to watch. I just love her accent, I wish you could hear it, its like she has to pronounce every word dramatically and on top of that its British so it is quite funny. Also even though she is 24 she acts like a 15 year old spoiled brat, if things do not go her way she will have a temper trantram. As for Richard he is supposedly Canadian and very very gay here is his BB photo, I think that just says it all. No one in the house really likes him because he is "cruel" and basically better than everyone. But again without his character the show would not be interesting. I really hope to see these to people end up in the final two, but how knows...

Rise Festival

This weekend was the annual Rise Festival in London. This festival celebrates London’s diversity and opposing racism, it took place at Finsbury Park and it was FREE!!! There were various stages celebrating different cultures in the arts, for example there was the Mela Stage which celebrates traditional and contemproaryAsian culture. The Urban Music stage featured up and coming Urban artist in England. Finally there was the main stage were the better known artist performed such as Bob Marley's old group The Wailers , and get this... hip hop artist COMMON was there. He was looking even hotter in person and to see him perform live just made my day. Here is a very handsome picture of him on stage.Anyway, Common performed a couple of songs and his DJ, I forget his name, but he did a set that just got the crowd on fire!!! I should also add it was really good to see everyone just appreciating the music and it did not matter what culture it was everyone just enjoyed themselves. The park was just crowded and after awhile it just became a little too much so RC and myself went a little area, kind of like a big hill, that they had fenced off for those who just wanted to sit on the grass and get away from the crowd. We stayed there for awhile and just relaxed. Soon we became ready to go home so we made our way through the crowd and then we decided to just stop at the Mela stage just to see what the next performance would be and they had brought on this dj, his name was Nerm. He spinned some good tunes and the crowd just became hyped!! It felt like we were at a club. Then some other band come on stage and it was not as good so we decided to stay and see if the was going to come back. That took like a good 20-30 mins for their set to end and when that dj came back the crowd came alive again. He was only able to play for about 15mins or so and then the organizers told him he had to pack up. The crowd was rightfully angery chanting "MORE MORE!!" After it looked like he was not going to be playing again we decided to leave and bring to an end of another fablous weekend in London. Plus Big Brother was coming on the tele soon so it was good timing :-)

Update

I know I know, I haven't been up to date with my post but just with work and everything I always forget but as of now I will do my best to keep all my readers (which is probably like 5) up to date with my London adventures. Anyway last weekend, which was Canada Day long weekend for most of you, RC and myself had a little bbq/housewarming/football game party at our flat. We were able to by these really cheap disposable bbq's at Tesco, which is like a little supermarket kind of like Longos. So we made hot dogs, hamburgers and RC's wicked potato salad. The party turned out really well we had about 8-10 peeps show up and everyone just seemed relaxed and I love that. Unfortunately due to the Underground everyone had to leave by 11:30pm but that was ok, it just sucks that the stupid Underground has to end so early I mean we are in London, a place that just loves to party and the tube finishes at 12am. So on Sunday we just chilled watched some Big Brother, don't worry I will have to dedicate a whole post to that show, and ate leftovers. I am really starting to appreciate our flat it is really starting to feel like home and that a good thing!!!
